What Now? Living in the Light of Resurrection

Sunlight bursting through a stone window frame into a green forest, symbolizing resurrection hope and new beginnings

Easter Sunday was full. Full of joy. Full of people. Full of reminders that Jesus is alive and hope has the final word.

But now it’s Monday.

The flowers on the stage have been taken down. The crowd has gone home. The excitement has quieted. And in its place comes a familiar question that always sneaks in after the mountaintop moments:

What now?

What are we supposed to do the day after Easter? When life looks the same but something is supposed to be different?

We go back to work. Back to bills. Back to laundry and dishes and calendars filled with obligations. And yet something still echoes from yesterday. The voice of resurrection hope whispering, You don’t have to live the same.

Paul says it this way in Romans 6:4:

“Just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.”

That’s it. That’s the Monday answer.

We live a new life.

We don’t go back to business as usual. We go forward with resurrection in our bones. With grace in our steps. With a quiet confidence that what Jesus started yesterday still holds power today.

That means:

You can forgive again.
You can try again.
You can pray again.
You can show up again.
You can walk with purpose again.

Because resurrection doesn’t end on Sunday. It begins there.

So whatever your Monday looks like, whether it’s noisy or numb, busy or blah, step into it knowing this:

The tomb is still empty.
Jesus is still alive.
And that changes everything.

A Simple Prayer

Lord, thank You that Easter didn’t end yesterday.
Help me live today like resurrection still matters.
Let new life show up in my words, my attitude, and my choices.
Fill my Monday with purpose and remind me that You are not done.
Because You are alive, I can walk forward with hope.
Amen.
